yesterday a helicopter went down. 2 pilots died. No, not over in Iraq .. right here on base.

What they are officially saying, is that it was a "hard landing" and tht the chopper was in for repairs and that they were test flying it .

OK, every good lie is based in truth, right?

hard landing? When you crash into pavement... Ok, crash with side of chopper onto pavement..... yes, id definately call it a hard landing. yet, hard landing kinda doesnt have the right mojo. When you have 2 people die and medics have to wait for the foam to cool it down to remove them from wreckage..... kinda doesnt signify hard landing.

Today, they put a tarp over the wreck and have a few guards there. It is still under investigation.

Turn on your Tv... watch the ticker tape on bottom... when it mentions Wheeler AAF base or Schofield... thats what im talking about.

(Wheeler is a branch of Schofield Base)

Today a soldier attempted suicide. He was in Iraq with 5 months before he came home to Schofield. Bullet went in mouth, out ear.

WTF! I understand that it makes us feel better when we are lied to about what happened... but dont you want to know what really happened? if it was someone you knew.. would you want the cover story they gave the press.. or WTF really happened?

No one wants to hear that their loved one died test flying, or was suicidal.... but there's a time to candy coat and a time to tell the truth.

Sometimes they can't tell the truth, or so they say. National security and all that ya know.If I had a buddy in a hotzone and he tripped over his bootlace and put a hole through his forehead I'd much rather be told he got taken out saving somebody.

Guess im just mad at having to explain. I liked it alot better, not having to explain in detail what happened as my kid is looking at the wreck. I liked the idea of having harsh reality something that wsnt in his face.
They blocked the roads so we had to take alternate route to get home. The alternate route brought us right next to landing strip where the Emergency vehicles and foam were still there.
We saw the soldiers pressed up against the fence, most w/o their hats( they call them covers) .meaning the went running regardless of their policy of wearing hats outside. my kid got to see first hand , soldiers looking at the debris, of what was left of their friends... and trying not to shed tears. we saw the biggest of men wiping his eye.

He had so many questions, half i pretended i didnt know the answers to...

Today he went to school. He will get first hand knowledge of what its like to have a schoolmate lose a parent.
