View Full Version : Why we should outlaw DOCTORS.

I was trying to follow Storms logic on fire arms, even though it eludes most people with common sense.

I decided to give it one hell of a go....just so I could say I walked on the other side for a while.

I decided, if guns kill people and that makes them ban worthy.....

What else can we look at?

Physicians:
a. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. (Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Now think about this…

Guns:
a. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

After seeing that, I decided that the idea of banning weapons really was as retarded as I first thought.

Guns dont kill people.... If I put a loaded gun on a table and pointed the barrel at myself... nothing would happen. Its an object, a tool. Without human interraction, its worthless. if I unloaded same gun... no difference, it will just sit there on the table. However, if I take unloaded gun and beat Nik over the head..( for bleeding topics/threads without forking for no reason other than to belittle admin) .. THEN, I would have used it as a weapon. Notice that there is a human interraction that must take place for it to be used?

As far as Doc's.... This is what I have been saying for quite some time now...... 'bout time someone else chimed in .Thanx, closed head (blunt force object )trauma Nik.

You sir, are an instigating idiot.

I have stated, only once, and in an attempt to make you reconsider your blood thirsty stance, that guns should be banned....to keep them out the hands of people like you. The point of that statement was that YOUR OUTLOOK on the subject was frightening me into that belief, and that I actually did NOT believe they should be banned.

Oh yeah, the topic.

Doctors kill people while trying to SAVE them. Gun owners kill people while trying to KILL them.

Slight difference there.

Apples and oranges.

Besides, I don't take out doctors for a hobby or sport to blow off some steam and hone my hand-eye coordination.

Although, I'm sure there are some gigolos and call girls that do.

Not necessarily, sometimes the aim isn't as good as they thought and trying to just wound somebody to stop them, they kill them by accident.

Ok...Dr's kill more people while trying to SAVE them...

Your point is lost on me there.

Even if gun owners WERE trying to kill people (in self DEFENSE no less) that would still make gun owners SAFER than a visit to the doctor.

Let's not forget that approximately 2,575 lives are protected for every life lost to a gun.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, chump.

The point was INTENT. I am seriously starting to question your reasoning abilities.

And what, pray tell, is an accidental gun death? Isn't that when your kid is screwing around with your loaded gun and inadvertently kills themselves? Or when you go out hunting and cant tell what you're shooting at so you accidentally blast another hunter?

My reasoning skills?

Mine?

You said doctors intended to SAVE the people and killed more than the people that intended to KILL them.

And who said Cheney didn't know what he was shooting at?

Apparently his "target" wasn't listening o an issue the way he should have and ol' Cheney just had to get his attention.

I'm starting to question whether you even HAD any powers of perception.

Now, I realize that your stance of gun banning had to back track to you saying you stated it "once" to try and save a little face when confronted with evidence that no only are guns safer than a doctor but that, overwhelmingly, guns save more lives than they take AND are proven to reduce crime in any area that concealed weapons licenses are issued.

I'm telling you, oh misguided one, that saying it once is one too many many times....no matter how feeble the excuse.

My contention is that merely carrying a fire arm not only keeps me safe but, the more people that do it, the safer the area becomes.

Seems criminals realize that when they don't know who is packing and who ain't....it might be a better idea to just NOT rob/attack/rape/attempt to murder somebody in the first fucking place.

Gotta love common sense....
Shame even dumb ass criminals are smarter than the average Liberal.

You sure did...at least the ones that you had a use for. When the post I made is taken in it's entirety, it hardly reads the same. In fact, it reads more along the "The fact that you value Guns more than lives scares the fuck out of me!" lines it was intended as.

See for yourself.

Yep, the Democrats are out to get you by making people take responsibility for their weapons.:headslap:

I will never understand why you feel that firearms should be completely unregulated...you know what they do right?

You should know however, that you all ARE changing my mind about guns. I now think they should outlaw them, specifically to prevent guys like you from having them. Your outlook on them is fucking scary.

PS. I am NOT being cute. Nor am I being ignorant. A firearm is dangerous in the wrong hands. I define the wrong hands as anyone who thinks that guns solve problems, or that people are born with an inalienable right to carry one and "ain't nobody gots a right to be nosey bouts it!"

Guns save lives??? Yes, when in the hands of trained responsible people. Such as the police and armed forces. You can point out how many criminals have been stopped in the act by a victim with a gun. But I will then point out how many unarmed criminals have went from theifs to murders when they stole the handgun from the untrained victim that was foolish enough to keep it in their home believing it would save their lives. I would also ask where the criminals are getting their weapons. OH YEAH...their taking them from our homes during burglaries and selling them on the streets to all kinds. I think ...and I don't care bout our rights...that guns should be owned only by the law. Trained law enforcement and military personell. They are paid to protect us here and abroad...so trust them to do it. You want to hunt??? Use a crossbow or be a real man and slice it's throat. Seems much more challenging to me...almost like sport.

I think what YOU'RE missing is that it compared ACCIDENTAL deaths at the hands of the Doctor to ACCIDENTAL deaths by gun.

Ok..since we're not talking accidental anymore, that's puts us in the realm of intentional shootings. Right?

How could you even POSSIBLY call someone that attempts robbing/stealing/attacking/ rape/murder, or what ever other case that provokes a gun owner to pull his weapon and defend himself, an innocent?

That just flat defies logic.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...those that die because they were stopped from committing what ever crime, by a person that was armed, died because of their own actions. It's the perps fault they caused the death.

Would you call a cop a murderer for shooting an assailant when deadly force is a viable option?

Nope.

And as for only letting "properly trained" people to own weapons, most gun owners are trained and practice often.

As for the police, they have to take "sensitivity" training in order to stem the occurrences of beating the shit out of people. Not really a moniker of wholesomeness.

Are there those out there that go "postal"?
You bet. They are also jailed and stripped of their right to ever legally own a fire arm again.

They also only account for a small percentage of the deaths.

Just like people with road rage that kill others with their vehicle, you can't weed out weak minded people from owning guns.

I wish we had a good way to weed out stupid people.

We could kill two birds with one stone.

We could cleanse the gene pool by eliminating them and sharpen gun owners skills by letting them handle the executions.

By the way...
I've posted it elsewhere but for every person killed by a gun owner, there are approximately 2,500 lives SAVED by fending off the criminal with the fire arm.

I can unequivocally argue that the higher the gun ownership, the higher the concealed weapons permits, the LOWER the crime rate in that area.

That's common knowledge.

Contrary to your beliefs, criminals don't get their guns solely from stealing them.

How many lives have guns saved?

My point was to show the disparity between the truth about guns and the bull shit laid out about them.

You only hear about killings on the news. You never hear about the people who stopped a crime with the use of a fire arm.

That's not sensational enough (The mantra "If it bleeds it leads") and it definitely goes against the march towards banning them.

If more people were aware of how many lives were SAVED by gun owners being able to not only defend themselves but others, there wouldn't be the idiocy spouted about it by those who are feeding at the trough of anti gun propaganda.

Ask a legal gun owner the hoops he has to jump through, the laws he better be up to date on and the worries about what will actually happen to him if he defends himself and has happened to miss a law concerning: permits, licenses, areas the gun can be carried in, locks and other measures for storage, etc etc....

For the criminals?

NO law makes a difference to them.

BAN guns if you want. THEY will still have them.

That's the crux of the problem.
