It occurs to me that we are having two completely different debates. And it seems that your inability to get me to change my views is rather upsetting to you, so I make now, an attempt to clear this up.

The only points that I have been making from the beginning are these:



People should be held responsible for their actions, including those involving firearms.
Firearms are in no way benign, and greater care should be taken to make certain that people who lack the stability, and responsibility required to wield such a thing do not get their hands upon them.
I am in full support of any steps the Govt takes to keep track of firearms and ammunition from the point of manufacture, to the point of use. Not to hinder the second amendment rights of law abiding citizens, but to better protect them from prosecution in the event of a worst case scenario. I mean, where do you think the criminals get their guns? That's right. The guns of criminals used to be the guns of law abiding citizens.*
Guns are not the answer 99% of the time.


*Please note that I am OPPOSED to any law that denies ANY constitutional rights. I believe that our Constitution is part of what makes America great.

Also, I am aware that you misunderstood a statement I made. A statement to the effect of "Well, you are succeeding in changing my views on gun control. The more I read of your argument, the more I think they should be outlawed, to keep them away from people who think like you."

This statement was made out of concern for your ravenous responses on the
topic. You have degraded to virtually screaming that nobody has the right to take away your guns, and that I must be a "Liberal" because I want them to outlaw guns etc...etc...etc...with no real relevance to the topic at hand.

Guns do not make "right" my friend, and I fear that you are letting your anger get the better of you. Never once has the debate been about Gun control, or the second amendment, but that is invariably where you choose to take it, screaming in anger the whole way.

I will no longer follow you down this road.

I have, and most likely will again, owned guns.

Upon such time as I purchase a new gun, I will gladly register it, obtain a license for it, purchase serialized ammo for it, report such things stolen in a timely manner if needs be, and/or any thing else that makes certain that my gun is mine in the eyes of the Govt, and that I will not be held accountable if it is stolen and used in a crime.

I will also make damn sure my firearms bear trigger locks, and that they reside in a locked Gun safe. To protect both my family and myself for potential misuse of the weapons.

If this makes me a "Liberal" or "Anti-Gun" then so be it. In America, I am not only allowed to be such, but at this time, it makes me the popular majority.

Last night I watched "My War, My Story." A documentary film based on 18 service persons who served in the Iraq war, 16 of them are now honorably discharged, and the other 2 were delivered home in coffins.

A unit leader, describes being on pins and needles. That's what it's like over there, all the time. It's late at night and they see what appears to be a group of people asleep on mattresses in the middle of the dessert. He tells his men they need to be careful. Those people could very well be terrorists, be body bombers. They have rifles with flash lights on them and surrond the sleeping people. On the count of three they turn their flash lights on and the man the unit leaders light awakens begins screaming with a gutteral scream from deep within his belly. His face is filled with terror. Next to him are his wife, his son, the son's wife, and their grandchildren. They are all screaming.

When they walk away, the unit commander tells his unit that they, the unit are the terrorists. They'd just terrorized that family nearly to death.

Another soldier returned from Iraq, but he was never the same man he was when he'd left. He did many strange things his family didn't understand and was receiving counseling from the VA. One night he went to bed, and later his parents turned in for the night. Then his older sister called saying he was sitting in a car, dressed in his fatiques. His father went to his room and saw he wasn't there.

A couple of nights later the soldier had a conversation with his father and asked his dad if he could sit in his lap. He just needed to be held.

Determination of "SPAM" is at the sole discretion of the staff of CNF. While an appropriately used "..." can be an effective statement, and is not necessarily Spam, a Moderator asked you not to do it again, and did so in an official capacity. That makes it law unless I say otherwise.

As I have repeatedly stated in the past. If you feel you are being unfairly treated by a Moderator PM ME. Please do NOT argue with my staff about their decisions on the open board. Doing so makes you wrong in my eyes, and all appeals are forfeit.
