you know I was sick one year after Thanksgiving...and I am not a fan of turkey to start with (prefer ham). I was in bed with pnemonia and watching good morning america (don't watch much tv usually) After being sick and tired of a food I don't care for being made the same old ways, soup, turkey and gravy over waffles, sandwhiches etc...they had an idea and I tried it. Thing was it looked like it was not so great straight from the oven...so much so daughter in law faked being not hungry so only took one tiny spoonful...only to return twice for more.

Layer the turkey pieces in the bottom of a caserole dish, layer in every thing else...stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn pudding, green beans, gravy, anything you ate at the meal...top it with the potatoes and sprinkle with cheese if you want to...bake in the oven (might have to add a touch of milk depending on how much gravy you had)...and one of the best shepherds pies ever.....

OK, this is probably going to gross out a buncha ya'll and I'm sorry for that. My SIL "taught" me to love just pulling, from the cold carcass in the fridge, pieces of the breast meat and, while standing right in front of the open fridge mind you, dip the pieces into the jar of mayo (she scoops considerably more with each swipe than I do) then pop the bite into your kisser and enjoy. It sounds horrible; it did when I first saw her do it too and, of course, you can't use the jar of mayo anymore but that, little dab in my case and good glob in her case of, mayo on the cold turkey makes it a little mounthful of cool from the fridge heaven.

Yeah all the puking emoticans can begin being posted now but as long as you actually like both mayo and turkey breast, don't knock it till ya try it, right?

... Then you wash it down with a big swig from the milk bottle and wipe your mouth off on the dish towel.

Did I hear MAYO!

I ate a ton of mayo sandwiches growing up.

Anyway, I tolerate turkey once a year. It's great right out of the oven, but it just doesn't taste right in any kind of mixture. I can pigout on "recycled" (heard someone complain about the over-use of the "L" word) chicken though.

chi
07-13-2010, 04:31 PM
Oh, so now we have to be all PC and use words like "remaining turkey" and "unused edibles" instead of the L-word. lol
