Not Austin powers or Mike Meyers. I thought the resemblance was uncanny.

He is a pretty big rockstar so to speak. He had some huge hits, over more than a decade. And did it in two different bands. Although the names of them were pretty familiar.

And here I thought Gigman or Rudy may actually be one of the people to get it.

I guess it is kind of sad, if you name every band you can think of, you probably won't name his. I'll give the answer tommorow if nobody guesses, and post a couple of his songs. And you will of course say "I love that song" about at least one of em.

Besides other hits, he had number #1 hit's in different decades, in different bands. One is one of the definitive songs of the seventies. If you listen to a classic rochk station all day, you'd more than likely hear it. I'll give you a hint

"A little bit of chopsticks, and a whole lot of Cocaine"

Eric Clapton?

Cocaine and chopsticks was a cheesy hint.

And I guess the two different bands thing isn't that rare. Fre, Henly, Rolie, Schon, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, paul McCartney etc. etc, did it.

His early band was one that was successful, changed singers, and became more successful though.

A little chopsticks and a whole lot of cocaine. That was because the promo's for the movie "Blow" used his song.

In the song, he plays chopsticks

Speaking of an uncanny resemblence, check out Will Farrell on drums.

He was also one of the original "British invasion" bands, hitting #1 in the us in 1964

Which was of course, also in the movie "Stripes"

I guess a good hint would have been that he gave land to anyone that bought his album.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/17/The_Good_Earth.jpg

Which was kind of a cool Idea. He bought a parcel of land, and broke it up into one sqft parcels, so that the area could never be sold, since it was owned by so many different people.

The guy really does deserve more credit.

BTW, my personal favorite

YouTube - Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Spirits in the night (Live 1976)

Which, like Blinded by the light, is also a Springsteen cover.

TOAO, you stumped me about a musician. Not easy to do.

Neither is getting kudos for a Thread game post.

Well done.
