It will probably be just me and Boo this year.. the oldest daughter is up North visiting her boyfriend for a few weeks, and the younger one always hangs with her boyfriends family on a boating outing for the Weekend.
We may head to the beach where they always have a huge fireworks display - other than that, nothing special planned at all.
How about ya'll?
Busch? You usually barbecue and do some fireworks yourself, right?

Yeah Cop, doing the same thing we always do. Heading out to the big man's estate to do some partying. The country club there does a big fireworks show, plus my cousin bought $2000 worth of fire works. I am surprised none of us drunks have ever hurt ourselves.

Well, I'm sure $2k doesn't buy as much fireworks as it used to, but that's still a lot of money to spend on fireworks in my book.
Hell, I remember a few years ago, a neighbor bought $500 worth (it's legal to buy fireworks in Florida - they sell them in roadside tents) and we STILL had shit left over by the end of the night

It is actually quite a bit of stuff Cop. Most of it here is buy one get one free. Here, it's legal to buy them, but not legal to shoot them off,..figure that one out?

Same here, Busch. I didn't know they sold them legally in Ohio.
I thought only "Southern" states and Texas did that

LMAO!!
We can't buy within city limits or shoot them off. You can go outside the city limits to buy, but can't bring them into the city.
Makes you wonder how many undercover policemen it would take to watch every person buying fireworks and make sure no one brings them in illegally.
yeah, no.
There are quite a few parks around here that have firework displays for the public. I can do without the bang, wait 10 seconds, then bang again. Wake me for the finale! I like the wow and double wow stuff.
We did get to see ALL of Houston's fireworks at once. Our daughter and hubby lived in a 3-story townhouse that had a patio roof. Talk about a view. There were no trees to obstruct the vision. No matter which direction you were facing, you had a magnificent display. I think we counted 5 different ones going off about the same time.
Anyway, this year, so far, we haven't made any definite plans. I could've just said that instead of all the other stuff, right? Thus the thread title.
I'm thinking it's gonna be a GFFG 4th out at the party barn.
Bikes, BBQ, booze, broads....
I am the man.
I have spoken.

There is a big fireworks display near here on the 3rd that we take the kids to. Bigpapa has to work on the 4th and my folks are going to a birthday (keg) party for my brother and I won't take the kids to a drinking party so we are just gonna hang out at home. Maybe grill outside and roast marshmallows. Who knows.

ROFLMAO - and THAT, folks, is the difference between a man and a woman. If Angeleyes had to work, and Bigpapa were at home watching the kids, they'd get to experience their very first keg party up close and personal

Angel, I was just saying to my wife last night at the party pad, when our kids were young, their birthdays were and excuse for the adults to party. Now, they are out-partying us, and we feel like old people sitting around...LOL

No Cop, that wouldn't happen either. Neither one of us drink around the kids. A beer or glass of wine is one thing, full fledged drunk fest is another.

Angel, how do expect them to learn the ropes? They are going to realize you go to those things some day....LOL

Well, as I broke my collar bone yesterday, I am quite certain that my 4th celebrations will include prescription narcotics. :S

On a matter of note Angel, as you know form seeing me here at this forum, I drink like a mo fo. have for over 30 years. My wife used to as well and we had massive parties in front of our kids as they were growing up. They are 16 and 17 now, and neither of them have ever touched a drop of alcohol.
Perhaps seeing their parents act like dipshits, was more of a deterent than hiding it from them?
"I don;t wan't to act like dad!"...LOL

lol Busch, this can be true. My parents used to party in front of me all the time. My inlaws are very religious though and the last thing we need is for one of the kids to go spouting off to them "Guess what mommy and daddy did last night" That would just cause way to much drama.
Storm, I heard about that. Guess you are not as young as you used to be! LMAO. Seriously though I hope you heal quickly (and learned your lesson).

My neighbor is very religeous and home schooled her kids up until the last few high school grades. Once they got out and saw what the world was like she was protecting them from, they went to hell. They are the two worst kids on the block now.
I am sure your kids will turn out fine Angel. It;s your choice as a parent to make the decisions. I hope you didn't think I was busting on you, because that was not my intention. I was just rambling from personal experience I have seen.
Because on the flip side, my brothers kids? Yeah, they drink. So it seems the reverse psychology didn't work there...LOL
But they also have money and can do anything they want.

No worries Busch! Just a personal choice. Maybe when they are older but our kids are very young and not only do I not want them to see mommy dancing on a table, I have to stay sober to take care of them anyways.

Dear contributors:
There is a fine line between your celebration plans towards celebrating the independence day of this great nation and family issues and growth up patterns per individuals.
My point goes into the cultural side, as we'all known the US or America is built upon immigration and settle of different cultural groups which at one point decide to flip the table and built a common identity knows as the US of America, thus the celebration of the 4th of July.
to me its perfectly fine that people celebrate whatever they want based on their values, religion, ethics, scientific, pshycological and last but not leaast: common sense. An example of this will be Bushman, Angel, Cop and the lovely Laine type of celebration..
All good indeed, this is folks... the most pure sense of Free Albedrio, laissez-faire (see: Thomas Reid 1710-1796)
let do, let it be and leave it alone.
thanks y'all

Ok, bro, time to twist yer noggin'......
You come home from a hard day's work. Settle down in your home office, light up a nice doob (theoretically, of course), open a ice cold can of beer and settle down for a spell as you peruse the boards.
After about 1/2 hour, Lanie calls you into the kitchen to ask your opinion..
on the kitchen table is a big old fluffy cake with that old school frosting, and right next to it is a fresh out of the oven hot as can be blueberry pie...
which one goes on your plate?
"pie is love"
and
for the record...
