You never notice how much shit you have accumulated until you pack it all in boxes.

I put a bunch of stuff on the curb with a free sign on it
when I accumulate too much treasure, 'laine orders up a dumpster that sits in the driveway for about $450 dollars a day...
superb motivator to do a little tossing (she'll never get it al HA HAHAHA HA HAAA) in record time

Goddess, I feel ya. We've gotten to the point of "less" is better. Thank heavens we had kids that needed stuff for their place. It was like walking into our "old" home when we visited them.
Now when they come to visit, they ask why we never had cool stuff around while they were growing up.
yeah, right.

We moved to a much nicer house that we have practically gutted and rebuilt. Last night was our first night here. I am surrounded by boxes, but the computer is set up.

I know exactly how that is. When I was in the Navy we moved ALL the time. First thing unpacked?
Stereo. Of course. Makes moving in much easier with tunes goin on.
Congrats on the move and hope everything goes smoothly for ya.

The spouse is a Navy Officer so we use to move a lot. Fortunately we didn't have to do it ourselves. yeah, yeah, yeah. The Navy packed up, moved it all for us and unloaded everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Still, you learn what not to collect and what you can live without.
Knick knacks are useless. I don't give them to people and when people give them to me they immdiately go to the local second hand store. One set of dishes is all anyone needs. Anymore than that should be paper plates that can be recycled. No more than 3 games per family. Trade games for more yippe. No china hutches, ever. No china; no one uses it because it might break. No silver because it's way expensive and needs polishing. No more than 2 pair of shoes per person. No more than 5 outfits per person, okay 7 - no more. 5 toys per child and that includes male adults.
That pretty much fills up your house. Any more than that should be sent over seas to clothe orphans.
