an 8 inch tongue...now the problem would be where to use that first. didn't say my heart rate said my bp. lol

Baldy...I come from a town where most 20 yr old females run around chewing gum waiting tables with no front teeth...how scarey could you be (I have a teeth thing).

Chi..I eat salt on every darn thing and garlic. ok except my cereal.

Laney you'd be proud. I had breakfast to include orange juice today and at a grilled cheese (jalapeno cheese on 7 grain honey wheat bread), chips and a carb master yogurt for lunch. fig noootins for snack and gonna have hunan chicken and crab puffs for dinner shortly....I did good.

actingas if you were going to harm he, give her hint of who you are, then just before she figures it out, use some special efx to make it look like you off your self or so,e thing, that should get her going...

Describe exactly what's going on, regarding "flashy things."

my heart rate and bp have always been low (considered normal for me now) 90/58 and heart rate I forget what it is resting. lately (last few years) suddenly out of the blue no common denominator I get constantly moving flashes across one or both eyes. It continues for sometimes hours...even with eyes closed unless I fall asleep I can see em. I am usually sitting so I get up and move around (today they started after working for four hours and just sat down). It doesn't appear to be related to eating (was my first guess) nor weight, not lack of sleep or too much. The only thing other than weather which I have not noted is I did have lasix ten years ago.

It's more annoying than anything else...and of course webmd has nothing to say on it

I thought that sounded familiar.... a memory of a colleague talking about when his retina detached. It went from floaters to flashes to total darkness. (he was fine after it was reattached)

So I looked that up and found
Floaters are tiny spots or specks that seem to float across your eyes. You might notice them in well-lit rooms or outdoors on a bright day. Floaters can be normal. But sometimes they are a sign of a more serious eye problem, such as retinal detachment. This often is the case if you see light flashes along with floaters. If you notice a sudden change in the type or number of spots or flashes, see your eye care professional right away.

Soooo, yeah, you should make an appointment with an ophthalmologist.

thanks Ms Chi...I kinda was leaning that way but was hoping it was the BP.

I so love no health insurance lol.

Smoke and drink heavily,..that will boost your BP.

And sooner, rather than later.

This advice was for the eye doctor, but I don't suppose that Busch's advice could hurt things. :)

That was my first thought too, Tawni.

Detached retina's can be a very serious thing if not treated.

well unfortunately, while some are waiting for their new kitchens under this regime...I am waiting for the promised "health care for all"...

yeah yeah I will read more then make the appt.

Tawni, my wife has the same thing. When I saw you mention seeing the light flashes, that was the first thing I thought off. Do you also see small shadow like blank spaces moving across your vision? It's like something in your eye that blocks your vision in a small spot.

While it can be serious, it's not necessarily so. My wife did not need any treatment and it mostly went away after a while. Her's was a detached retina. With the light flashes you are mentioning, it could be a "torn" retina, which is much more serious. It can lead to blindness, pretty quickly. Don't wait, get an appointment with an Ophthalmologist and get it checked asap, and good luck.

Here's an excerpt from an article that explains some of this condition:

"Flashing lights and floaters may be the initial symptoms of a retinal detachment or of a retinal tear that precedes the detachment itself. Anyone who is beginning to experience these symptoms should see an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) for a retinal exam. In the exam, drops are used to dilate the patient's pupils to make a more detailed exam easier. The symptoms of flashing lights and floaters may often be unassociated with a tear or detachment and can merely result from a separation of the vitreous gel from the retina. This condition is called a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). Although a PVD occurs commonly, there are no tears associated with the condition most of the time. (That's what my wife had.)

The flashing lights are caused by the vitreous gel pulling on the retina or a looseness of the vitreous, which allows the vitreous gel to bump against the retina. The lights are often described as resembling brief lightning streaks in the outside edges (periphery) of the eye. The floaters are caused by condensations (small solidifications) in the vitreous gel and frequently are described by patients as spots, strands, or little flies. Some patients even want to use a flyswatter to eliminate these pesky floaters. There is no safe treatment to make the floaters disappear. Floaters are usually not associated with tears of the retina.

If the patient experiences a shadow or curtain that affects any part of the vision, this can indicate that a retinal tear has progressed to a detached retina. In this situation, one should immediately consult an eye doctor since time can be critical. The goal for the ophthalmologist is to make the diagnosis and treat the retinal tear or detachment before the central macular area of the retina detaches."
