Officials condemned an entire apartment building in Fort Pierce, Fla., after they found one apartment overflowing with human waste that a tenant was using to get wasted.
A tenant in the building, Louisker Louisjuene, told police he was forced from his apartment by not only the smell but the waste that was running down his walls from the apartment upstairs, according to WPTV.
When police opened the second-floor unit, they found bottles and buckets of what appeared to be human waste. Many of the containers had been dumped out onto a mattress and the bedroom floor.
Officers believe the wasteful renter may have been huffing "Jenkem," a hallucinogenic drug made from the gas of fermented sewage.
The Fort Pierce Building Department deemed all of the apartments unsafe, condemning them and forcing at least four people to move out.
The landlord estimates the damage at at least $150,000, but he says the building may have to be demolished.
Police are still looking for the tenant with the cost-cutting plan to get wasted.

Redefines the phrase 'Living in a shit house'
And there was I thinking it was only Coprophiliacs who got a sexual kick out of faeces. A bit like most bosses I suppose. After all, they often like to crap on their employees! :squigglemouth:

Yeah, I'd heard about this for the first time a few years back on another site. Still as unbelievable now as it was then.
Apparently this started in 3rd world countries (where else, right?) back in the 90's.
The first media description of Jenkem came from an Inter Press Service wire report in 1995.[2] In 1999 BBC News then ran a story devoted to this new drug.
According to a 1998 report in The New York Times, Fountain of Hope, a non-profit organization, said that Jenkem was used by street children in Lusaka, Zambia to obtain a "powerful high".[11] In 2002, Project Concern International Zambia and Fountain of Hope released a report entitled "Rapid Assessment of Street Children In Lusaka," where Jenkem is listed as the third most popular drug among Lusaka's street children, following Dagga (cannabis) and "glue and Dagga" but ahead of "Ballan" (uncured tobacco) and petrol.[12] The raw materials are plentiful and freely available in the form of fecal matter from the open sewers of Lusaka. This is then fermented in plastic bottles and the fumes are inhaled. John C. Zulu, director of the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Child Development in Zambia, informed Salon.com in November 2007 that Jenkem usage is less common than glue-sniffing and, "Initially, they used to get it from the sewer, but they make it anywhere [...] They say it keeps them warm and makes them fearless."[3]

This is, as far as drug taking, downright the nastiest thing I have ever heard of

Yeah, I've heard of shitty high's before..
One thing I found funny though; they said using it made ya fearless...hell, I'd think you'd need to be fearless to huff shit in the first place.
Once your life is that far in the toilet (like what I did there?) that the thought of using shit to get high seems like a GOOD idea, what else, really, could there be in the world to scare you?

Does anyone wonder why those Somali's would risk their lives being pirates?
It's a wonder we don't have Afrikaan pirates in New York Harbor storming the Intrepid!

Found it. It's called Qat.
I AM an American. I have recently researched the events in Somalia of October 1993. Qat is the drug that made the Somalians feel they were invincible to our US Rangers and Delta Forces. The only reason our military was there was to make sure the Somalians overcame the famine they were experiencing. Because of our military, they overcame this famine. However, this drug made the Somalians unappreciative of our efforts to help. They felt as if they could conquer the world. In reality, they only conquered this one battle. Today, their people are still starving. I'm sorry, but we tried.
The use of qat is a disgrace to my country because the Somalian militamen were fighting while high on this drug. My country does not fight high on drugs but high on the pride of their own country. We fought a sincere battle to help the Somalian people during their time of famine. I hope that you think about the millions of Somalians that died because of the use of that drug during battle at Mogadishu. My heart breaks when I think of the thousands of Somalian women and children that died.
Please, discontinue the use of this drug. It's not worth it. Ask Aidid's son. He'll tell you. He was there. He was an American marine. Maybe he never experienced this drug. But, I guarantee you, his father and his warlords did, and he now vows to continue the work of his father. What do you think? Is qat your drug of choice? Please tell me. Because if you are, I have absolutely no respect for you. Reflect on your decisions.

Apparently, it's a pretty big problem in that region.

Meant to put this up earlier Cop, and I forgot:
Khat, qat, gat or Miraa (Catha edulis, family Celastraceae; pronounced /ˈkɑːt/, kaht; Arabic: قات qāt; Hebrew: קאת, qat; Ge'ez ጫት č̣āt; Somali: qaad) is a flowering plant native to tropical East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
Qat contains the alkaloid called cathinone, an amphetamine-like stimulant which is said to cause excitement, loss of appetite, and euphoria. In 1980, the World Health Organization classified qat as a drug of abuse that can produce mild to moderate psychological dependence (less than tobacco or alcohol) [1]. The plant has been targeted by anti-drug organizations like the DEA.[2] It is a controlled or illegal substance in many countries, but is legal for sale and production in many others.

An episode of the Spike program 1000 Ways to Die, which aired on October 26, 2010 featured a segment about a musician, desperate for a high, who resorted to jenkem, with eventually fatal consequences. The death is reported to have occurred on September 17, 2002 in Provo, Utah.[33]
