Here in TX, as long as you've got a piece of paper, you can carry a gun on body. Nice for handling hooligans n whatnot.

I can agree with, and even respect some of the smoking laws.

It is kinda nice to sit in a restaurant and have dinner without the smoke from the table next to me floating in my face. But I also like the fact that some places are permitting smoking when alcohol is a major percentage of the sale.Going to a bar is not the healthiest environment..don`t understand why people would bitch about smoking.

I`m the designated driver of these guys..and I can`t smoke in here. But I have to keep putting up with the drunk guy next to me bumping me spilling his drink on me.Sounds a bit unfair.

*That reply had no scientific research involved...it is merely my opinion.

All of the above.
There is even talk of banning smoking in 'any public gathering place'. That would include sports venues (football, cricket, golf, racing, you name it !), public parks and shopping high streets.

There have even been discussions about a complete blanket ban on smoking in public - anywhere.
That would leave your home as the only place to smoke - so long as;
You do not smoke in your front or back garden.
You are not a tenant within that property.
Your landlord would have to give specific permission to allow smoking in his/her property.
You do not sub-let.
These are just a few points that were talked about if the blanket ban came in.

Pretty soon, not sure when, all shops selling 'tobacco related goods' must remove them from display. In other words, they must be under the counter and out of sight.

We in the UK, are the most spied upon, legislated upon, shat upon and generally screwed country in the world, bar none !!
I gave up smoking nearly 2 years ago, but I will throw my support behind most things that kick against the 'system'.

We've got a smoking ban here in Iowa as well. EVERYWHERE is non-smoking....except for the casinos. Small business owners are in an uproar over it. There were several bars and restaraunts here that were non-smoking, and that was simply up to the business owner, which is the way it should be. When we give the gov't control over everyday decisions...the gov't finds ways to control us even more.

I have lived with a smoking ban my whole life in Cali. Don't mind it at all. Hell, even when I go to the casinos in Nevada I go outside. I hate the smell of smoke inside, and I am a smoker. Drives me nuts if someone fires up inside next to me...

You might want to take a moment to think about the definition of the word 'liberal.'

You might want to take a moment to think about the definition of the word 'liberal.'

1. Tending to give freely
2. Not strict or literal; loose or approximate
3. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas.

Yeah, I picked and chose...

For them it means sharing the wealth. Not freedom.

All government buildings are smoke free, along with the items on LD's list here in Ga. I grew up around smokers,it doesn't bother me to be around it.I even smoke a few here and there myself.

Here in Canada We Have Been Dealing With This For A While , The service industry has suffered damaging blows as a result of the smoking bans , I Have been going to the same Billiard Establishment for the past 13 years , and when the ban came into place, I watched the business drop off like Someone there had the Plague , It should be up to the owners and patrons as to weather they want to be smoking or non , More and more of our freedoms and choices are being stripped from us every day . Our Governments are treading Dangerously Close to Thrusting , Police State Protocol apon us . When are we as a voting , Tax paying , Law abiding Society Going to get a backbone and shout " Enough is Enough! "

Just a Thought.

It's not just the government that is doing this, there is a driving force of non smoking people behind every one of these laws. You can count on that.

Well played, but unfortunately the founding fathers were just a tad more strict than the ultra-right is today.

Well played, but unfortunately the founding fathers were just a tad more strict than the ultra-right is today.

I'm afraid I disagree.

The man who penned The Declaration of Independence (the document defining our liberties), a man who became president, and thus spawned both of our prevalent political parties today, is renowned for standing up for things that today's 'liberals' wouldn't dare.

In fact, if a single politician, Conservative or Liberal, were to spend nearly as much time concerning themselves with protecting the liberties outlined in the aforementioned document as they did pandering for votes, and to special interests, I firmly believe their compatriots would have them stoned as a heretic.

The founding fathers were not, in a sense, strict. They were strong, and dedicated to protecting the peoples liberties. Not to controlling the people. This Government was designed to be 'Of The People, By The People, For The People.' It has become 'Of The Power, By The Rich, For The Money.'

Dammit, there I go again. Sorry. :squigglemouth:

When I first moved to Georgia,I put in an application at a plant close to where we lived and they would not allow tobacco of any kind anywhere on their property, you could not even have it in view inside your car.:squigglemouth:

My workplace is tobacco free campus wide.

I believe it`s bullshit because two years ago we had a perfect little shack out by the dumpsters we could smoke in.It was nothing fancy but it shielded us from the cold.Even the non smokers would come out just to hang out.

By the dumpsters..that means no one(the public) could see us.No muss no fuss..and my superiors took that away from me.Now I stand off property, no matter the weather condition, unshielded.

They do this so I can be healthier....I call bullshit.I have a very hard time believing my company cares about the well being of it`s employees.

They started their propaganda as soon as a Republican got into office. Now they expect the Republicans to cross party lines and cooperate with everything they want to do. BULLSHIT! Ain't it a shame they can't work together with Republican president.

You are a single minded twit with no knowledge of history other than what you have been told by people with an agenda.

You consider yourself a Republican for two reasons only.

The current (since the 40's) Republican party believes that the Christian religion should influence laws & policies.
You think that handguns should be available at your local 7-11. No control.

Do not propose to tell me what I know when you yourself are heavily biased, and blind to the actual facts.
