I live in Hawaii. Just moved here. Everything is new , some exciting.
The Pacific ocean. MUCH differ than the Atlantic. I spent 30+ years nearby the Atlantic and here I am living within 30 minutes of the Pacific in any direction. I mean ANY direction.... I live in the middle of an island.

So, being not unused to the water ... I go to the beach. I already know to keep Vampire sunblock 1000SPF at the ready. I also have mosquito repellant. The freakin bugs are everywhere! ( I thought there was a pretty and colorful fist sized flower.... went closer to it.. it fuckin flew away! WTF!!!! This is gonna take some geting used to) So the water.... In the Atlantic you have about 15 yards til you cant touch the bottom( sometimes even more room before you cant touch) The Pacific? You have 15 feet til the shelf. I was waist high , took another step and I dunked myself! The floor? There was none. OK.. note to self... after about 30 paces the shelf hits and there's a drop. The waves were about 10-15 by the lifeguard report. They broke by the beach. So it was more hazzardous by the sand than it was further out treading water.

I got my ass handed to me prolly 4 times. We were playing man on beach throw tennis ball and us swimmers fetch and toss it back. Yeah,I felt like Fido..... but we did have some fun. Me getting owned by the waves, made it more fun. Scary ... a bit.. til I rose up and laughed basically giving everyone the OK. ( that i was OK) . My son is 13 ( 14 in a few days) and not a strong swimmer. he can tread water fine so he stayed in the deeper part where he rose and fell with the waves. I was in the surf getting pounded. ( yes, we body boarded for a bit... but then the waves got more... violent? so we started playing with the ball)

By the time we left.. I had more sand in my bottoms than there was on the beach to begin with! OMG! Bikini's have this piece of fabric on the crotch. its sewn on 3 not 4 sides. So it creates a pocket. THATS WHERE THE SAND WENT! OMG! I left the beach feeling like i had ........ balls! I had a fistfull of sand stuck in the bathingsuit bottoms that i couldnt get to.So everyone had a great laugh at my balls...... during the ride home.

Once in the shower..... I expected my bottoms to have a mountain of sand..... but my top? Holy Shit! I think my cup size gained a letter or three! ( bra's and bikini tops have a numerical size for the width of your body..(like a belt)and the letter size is the cup( how big yer boobs are) size, like A,B,C,D...etc..)

The rip current and the waves threw ya into the dirt and then your feet would follow , kinda like a face plant and then a forward roll. After that the next wave would throw you onto shore and basically give ya rug burns as the water propelled you onto shore. It wasnt as bad as it sounds. Once ya righted yourself underwater( figured which was up and sand was down) it was a waiting game to allow the water to push ya onto shallower water and thus the beach. As long as ya dont lose your mind... you'll be fine. Ya gota hold your breath and fight the backwards push( I dug my feet in and walked underwater til the next wave collapsed my knees and made me kneel as it pushed me onto the beach) . The rip ( or going back to open water push current) was amazing to see. If you werent planted sturdy... you went out with it . You definately need to be a decent swimmer around here. My son went onto shore with me either right beside him or within arms reach. he got clobbered once. he choked and gagged. he was fine though. He was treading and he was in mid speak trying to warn me of the next wave .. when another one snook up upon him. he was in deeper waters and above the rip.... so he was fine... Just ate and breathed in water.

All in all it was a good day, alot wiser, I am . Where I was used to the Atlantic and knowing what to expect... the pacific was something new. Learning experience.. YES, yes it was..... Cant wait to go back!

Its January and Im on a beach, swimming nearby surfers. If youd have asked me 2 years ago if this was possible? Id have told you that you were nuts!
best part? No sunscreen! YAY! beach without sunscreen! Now this is short lived from what Im told..... soon it will get hotter and the sun will be much stronger than it is now. So I wanna suck it all up before I need to worry about all that sunscreen shit!

It sounds like a fun day. It's way better than all of the snow and 15 degree weather we're having at the moment.

Besides not being to cold, isn't Hawaii supposed to not get too warm either?

Everyone bitches about the cold, but the heat can be pretty brutal too.
