TYSON FOODS ELIMINATES LABOR DAY IN FAVOR OF MUSLIM HOLIDAY
Tyson Food in Shelbyville, Tennessee has eliminated Labor Day as a paid holiday in favor of the last day of Ramadan because they have 700 Muslim employees. The fact that they have almost that many non-muslim employees is beside the point apparently!
It's just one more little chunk of America that's been bitten off.
All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
This was verified http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/outrage.asp I did not believe even Snopes, so I checked it out myself: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,397645,00.html

Actually, the local union asked that Labor Day be replaced by the Muslim holiday - as hte employees get 8 paid holidays. That particular local has a majority of Muslims working there. That location, and that location only, is the one that has taken a religious holiday off in place of Labor Day.
In other words, your article above is only half true, and eliminates much of the facts

I just read the remainder of the article posted by Snopes in my link. It says Tyson gave ALL workers a "personal day", so the muslims are using that on their holy day, and EVERYBODY now gets Labor Day off at Tyson.
Sorry, Laney.. The email you receuved ain't true

Just a thought here, but who actually cares about Labor Day? If a union petitions a company to swap Labor Day for another holiday, then it was at the will of the majority of that company's workers. Making it simply a "better" Labor Day for the specific workforce...right?

True Storm,...I know of a few businesses that have swapped a holiday day in exchange for getting the Friday after Thanksgiving off. I always thought that was a dumb set up anyway, because Friday was always a waste because most folks would call off or take a vacation day to get the long weekend.

my point is...Why are we bending over backwards for these people? I really don't care if the majority of workers is them.
they came to OUR country...(and we let them). if we can't/don't accommodate them, they are FREE to leave.
...it's not over yet people. these's more change to come and i hope i'm not around to see it. I don't envy my grandchildren one bit. who knows, maybe even my children.

I understand, and sympathize, but it just doesn't apply in this case.
Labor Day isn't about our country, or it's citizens. It's about Labor. The Labor Unions being the purest form of Socialism in the world. Given your often stated political views I can't help but wonder about your desire to champion their holiday.*
I heartily agree that the Muslim community is overly invasive, and that they are being allowed to stifle any and all other cultures in areas they choose to occupy. I also think it's a big fucking pile of horse shit...
...but I feel the same way about the Christian and Jewish communities, and everybody thinks I'm a dick because of it. :squigglemouth:
