Drivers have being warned to watch out for zombies – by official roadside signs.
Motorists on the busy road in Austin, Texas, were met with electronic warning signs telling them: "CAUTION! ZOMBIES! AHEAD!!!"
Seconds later they were advised to 'RUN FOR COLD CLIMATES' and that 'THE END IS NEAR!!!!!'
Another flashing sign, which is usually used to alert drivers to roadside construction on North Lamar boulevard, had an even more specific warning: "NAZI ZOMBIES! RUN!!!"
Footage of the bizarre signs has appeared across the internet with readers speculating as to how they came about.
Although no definitive answer has emerged about the strange goings-on on this normally sedate US thoroughfare, it appears mischievous online hackers with a love of horror movies may be to blame.
